Choose the version that matches your power supply: 110V (110–127V, 50/60Hz) for the USA, Canada, Japan, Taiwan and other 110V regions; or 220V (220–240V, 50/60Hz) for Europe, the UK, Australia, the Middle East, most of Asia, Africa and South America. These are separate voltage versions, not a dual-voltage machine. The plug is matched to your destination country.

Applications

  • Closing jump rings and attaching clasps on gold and silver chains.
  • Precision welds on fine wire in platinum, gold, karat gold and silver.
  • Bench repair work where solder powder is not wanted.

Each version requires its matching mains supply. Select either the 110–127V version or the 220–240V version; neither version is dual-voltage.

Using the Welder

  1. Check that your mains voltage matches the machine. Connect the output leads to the terminals with matching polarity and tighten the terminal screws.
  2. Keep the tungsten electrode tip sharp before and during welding.
  3. Set the pulse current: turn the knobs clockwise for more, counterclockwise for less. Match it to the part and the size of the weld spot.
  4. Hold the part with the clamp and bring it 0.5–1 mm (0.02–0.04 in) from the electrode.
  5. Press the foot pedal. An arc between the part and the electrode makes the weld.

Care: if the welder has been stored somewhere damp, dry it before use. Keep it well grounded.

FAQ

How do jewelry spot welders work?

When you press the foot pedal, the welder sends a pulse of current that forms an arc between the tungsten electrode and the part held in the clamp. That arc makes the weld, so no solder powder is needed.

How do you use a spot welder on a jump ring?

Close the ring, hold it with the clamp and bring the joint 0.5–1 mm (0.02–0.04 in) from the electrode tip. Set the Coarse and Fine knobs to suit the ring size and weld spot, then press the foot pedal.

Which metals can this welder join?

It welds platinum, gold, karat gold and silver. The welding range is 0.4–1.2 mm (0.016–0.047 in), which suits jump rings, clasps and fine wire.

Which voltage versions are available?

Choose 110V (110–127V, 50/60Hz) or 220V (220–240V, 50/60Hz). Each is a separate version for its specified mains voltage, not a dual-voltage machine.
