BST600 AC/DC Gaussmeter with Horizontal Hall Probe

The BST600 is a portable gaussmeter/teslameter for measuring magnetic flux density in DC and AC magnetic fields. This version is supplied with a horizontal Hall probe for surface magnetic field checks, with selectable 0-200 mT and 0-2000 mT ranges, mT/Gs unit conversion, zero reset, and peak hold.

What It Measures

  • Magnetic flux density on magnet and material surfaces.
  • Working magnetic fields from magnetic separators, iron-removing equipment, magnetic chucks, magnet coils, and demagnetizing coils.
  • Leakage magnetic fields on iron surfaces.
  • Magnetic fields inside gaps and narrow structures.
  • Magnetic field checks for DC motors, speakers, permanent magnetic separators, and induction cooker work areas.

Key Functions

  • Hall-effect sensor measurement with a microcontroller-controlled digital circuit.
  • Measures both DC and AC magnetic fields.
  • Two selectable ranges: 0-200 mT and 0-2000 mT.
  • Switchable display units: mT and Gs. Reference conversion: 0.1 mT = 1 Gs; 1 T = 10,000 Gs.
  • Zero reset for measurement setup away from magnetic fields.
  • Real-time measurement and peak-value hold modes.
  • 9V battery operation for about 20 hours of continuous use.

When to Choose This Model

  • Choose this horizontal sensor version when you need to check surface magnetic fields with the side/contact surface of the probe.
  • Use the 0-200 mT range for lower field readings and the 0-2000 mT range for stronger fields within the instrument range.
  • Use peak hold when you need to capture the highest reading during a measurement pass.

Basic Operation

  1. Install the 9V battery, or connect a 9V DC regulated external power supply if used.
  2. Insert the Hall probe into the front-panel sensor socket according to the arrow mark.
  3. Power on the meter and keep the probe away from magnetic fields before zero adjustment.
  4. Select DC or AC mode, choose the 200 mT or 2000 mT range, and switch between mT and Gs as needed.
  5. Lightly contact the measurement surface with the proper sensing side of the horizontal probe. Do not press the probe tip hard against the workpiece.

FAQ

Can the BST600 measure both AC and DC magnetic fields?

Yes. The BST600 supports DC and AC magnetic field measurement, with a frequency range listed as DC-200 Hz.

Which probe version is supplied with this product?

This listing is for the horizontal Hall probe version.

What units can the display show?

The display can be switched between mT and Gs.

When should zero reset be used?

Reset zero with the probe away from magnetic fields before measurement, and reset again after changing the range or switching AC/DC mode.

What power supply does it use?

The meter uses a 9V battery and can also use a 9V DC external regulated power supply.

Probe Care Notes

  • The magnetic sensing element is at the front end of the Hall probe.
  • Do not bend, pull, strike, squeeze, or heavily load the probe and cable.
  • Avoid strong sunlight, high temperature, high humidity, water, oil, corrosive air, heavy vibration, and strong nearby magnetic fields during storage or use.
  • Remove the battery when the meter will not be used for a long time.
