Correct setup is essential when a deblistering machine is adjusted for a new PTP blister format. The guide plate, separator press plates, and rubber roller must match the blister rows before the machine is started. This guide explains the adjustment sequence demonstrated in the video above for the FMF-3 automatic deblistering machine.

What the FMF-3 Deblistering Machine Does

The FMF-3 removes tablets and capsules from PTP blister cards. A rubber roller feeds the card through the stripping area while adjustable separator press plates follow the spaces between blister rows. Positioning blocks and the guide plate keep the card on the intended path.

The machine is rated for up to 40 blister cards per minute. It includes 10 press plates, has a minimum adjustable spacing of 20 mm, operates on DC 24 V, and uses an acrylic safety cover with a power interlock.

Before Adjusting the Machine

Disconnect the DC 24 V supply before installing, removing, or adjusting the roller or press plates. Work with one sample blister card first so the plate positions can be checked without feeding a full batch.

  • Confirm that the guide plate, separator assembly, rubber roller, and clear safety guard are available.
  • Inspect the sample blister card and count its rows.
  • Identify the open channels between the rows. The separator plates must follow these channels rather than press directly onto a tablet or capsule pocket.
  • Keep the safety cover open only while the power is disconnected and adjustments are being made.

Step 1: Install the Guide Plate

Position the guide plate with its smaller end facing forward. Fit it onto the two retaining clips inside the machine and press it into place evenly. The plate should sit securely without rocking because it establishes the path used by the blister card.

Step 2: Install the Separator Assembly

Lift the guide plate slightly to create room for the separator assembly. Loosen the adjustment knob on the right-hand side, place the separator with its longer end toward the right, and secure it in the machine. Do not fully tighten the adjustment until the press plates have been aligned with the sample pack.

Step 3: Align and Secure the Rubber Roller

Match the locating holes on the left side of the rubber roller with the locating pins on the machine. Insert the roller squarely, then tighten the large knob on the right. The roller must be fully seated, but the securing knob should not be overtightened.

Step 4: Position the Separator Press Plates

Place one separator plate along each outer edge of the blister layout and one plate in every channel between adjacent rows. In the video, the sample pack has three rows, so four separator plates are used: one on the left, two between the rows, and one on the right.

This row-based method is more reliable than copying a fixed measurement from a different blister card. Different PTP layouts can require different spacing even when the card width appears similar.

Step 5: Check Alignment Before Starting

Adjust each plate gradually and inspect the alignment by eye. Every separator plate should follow a clear path between blister pockets. If a plate is positioned over a pocket instead of the channel, the pack can be damaged during feeding.

After the positions are correct, tighten the small adjustment knob on the right so the plates remain stable against the roller. Recheck the outer plates and the center channels after tightening because the assembly can shift slightly.

Step 6: Set the Rear Guide Plate

Push the rear guide plate forward until it rests above the blister card. This keeps the pack on the intended feed path as the roller draws it through the machine. The card should enter straight, without twisting or lifting at one side.

Step 7: Close the Guard and Run a Test Card

Close the acrylic safety cover before reconnecting power. The cover uses a power interlock, so it must be in the operating position. Start with one blister card and feed it slowly along the positioning blocks.

Stop and disconnect power before making another adjustment. Do not reach into the roller or press-plate area while the machine is energized.

How to Evaluate the Test Result

  • The blister card should travel straight through the stripping area.
  • The separator plates should remain in the channels between rows.
  • Tablets or capsules should be released without the plates cutting through blister pockets.
  • If one row is not stripped consistently, recheck that row's channel alignment before changing overall pressure.
  • If the card bends or tears, stop the machine and inspect the guide path, plate position, and roller seating.

Common FMF-3 Setup Errors

Move the plate into the open channel between rows. A plate centered over a pocket can damage the pack.

Rubber roller not fully seated

Realign the locating holes and pins, insert the roller squarely, and secure the large right-hand knob.

Rear guide plate left too far back

Move it forward so the blister card stays under control as it enters the roller area.

Adjustment changed after tightening

Recheck every channel after tightening the small knob. Fine adjustments may be needed before the test run.

FMF-3 Setup Checklist

  1. Disconnect the DC 24 V supply.
  2. Install and secure the guide plate.
  3. Install the separator assembly with the long end toward the right.
  4. Seat and secure the rubber roller.
  5. Place separator plates beside and between the blister rows.
  6. Check that no plate sits over a tablet or capsule pocket.
  7. Tighten the small adjustment knob and recheck alignment.
  8. Move the rear guide plate forward over the blister card.
  9. Close the acrylic safety cover.
  10. Run one test card and inspect the result before processing more cards.
