ThorX6 quick start: create and position a text mark

The steps below summarize the desktop-interface example in Section 2.1 of the manual, pages 3–4, for equipment that is already set up. Desktop icons and keyboard shortcuts describe the source interface, not verified controls on the linked machine's 7 inch screen. Moving a selected mark can physically move the marking stylus; Start Marking and F9 start the marking operation.

  1. Launch ThorX6 from its desktop icon and wait for the main interface.
  2. Open the Mark panel, select Add Mark → Text, and left-click in the editing area.
  3. Replace the default ABC123 in the Content field with the required text. Set its font, dimensions and position.
  4. Select and drag the mark, or use the arrow keys to position it. The quick-start example uses a 1 mm movement per arrow-key press.
  5. Observe the stylus position on the actual workpiece. Automatic positioning follows one selected mark, not a multiple-mark selection.
  6. When the layout and workpiece position are ready for marking, open Marking → Start Marking, or press F9.

The central editing area previews the layout; the status bar shows messages and marking counts. The File button provides Open, Save and related file commands.

How to set up serial-number and VIN encoding in ThorX6

Automatic serial-number increments

  1. Create a Text mark and enter a starting value, such as 12345.
  2. Select Encoding Type → Serial Number. In the manual's example the mark turns red.
  3. Set Increment, Repeat Count, Minimum Value, Maximum Value and any Excluded Digits.
  4. Save the file under a name if duplicate-number checking is required.

With the default increment of 1, the example changes from 12345 to 12346 after marking. Repeat Count controls how many cycles occur before an update. Serial-number content must consist of digits or end with digits; content that does not end in digits cannot be marked with this encoding.

  • If an update exceeds Maximum Value, the number returns to Minimum Value; values below the minimum are set to the minimum.
  • Excluded Digits omits specified digits. The source example skips from 123 to 125 when 4 is excluded.
  • The number of characters does not increase: adding 1 to AB9999 produces AB0000, not AB10000.

VIN encoding and duplicate-number checks

The VIN mode has settings similar to serial-number encoding and allows the length of the trailing serial-number portion to be specified. The supplied manual describes a 17-character VIN but contains inconsistent 16-character examples. Those examples are not validated VIN templates and are not reproduced as recommended inputs here.

After a normally completed marking cycle, ThorX6 records serial-number and VIN content. Reusing the same content produces a warning asking for confirmation. This check works only with named, saved files, not temporary content that has never been saved. See Sections 2.3.2 and 2.6.4, pages 8 and 13.

ThorX6 date and time format codes

Select Date encoding for a text mark. Its Format parameter replaces the original text with a date/time string. These codes are listed in Appendix 1, page 14; uppercase and lowercase codes have different meanings.

Arc text, graphics and ruler marks

Text and arc-text parameters

Select Text for a straight line or Arc Text for characters arranged around a radius. Once chosen, a mark's type cannot be changed. X and Y reference the lower-left corner for standard text and the circle center for arc text. Angle rotates standard text; for arc text it defines the start angle. Radius and Character Direction control the arc arrangement and whether characters face inward or outward.

Character Height and Character Width are reference dimensions: actual glyph size depends on the chosen font. Set Character Spacing separately. Text containing Chinese characters needs a valid Chinese font. Z is effective only when Z-axis height adjustment is enabled on a suitably equipped machine. See page 7.

Import a graphic or create a ruler

Choose Add Mark → Graphic, click in the editing area, then select Browse to choose an appropriate graphic file. Width and Height set its dimensions; Keep Aspect Ratio recalculates the other dimension when one changes. This manual does not establish a complete supported-file-format list.

For ruler marks, Division Length is physical spacing in millimeters, while Value per Division is the displayed numerical interval. The manual's one-inch example uses Division Length 25.4 and Value per Division 1. Set total divisions, ruler height, tick ratios, start value, major divisions, numerals and decimal places as needed. A valid nonzero Arc Radius creates an arc-shaped ruler. See pages 8–9 for the graphic and ruler descriptions.

Stylus positioning, alignment and obstacle waypoints

Mark → Align provides left, right, top, bottom, horizontal-center, vertical-center and center/start-point alignment. Arrange in One Row positions marks with a specified spacing without merging them.

Mark → Stylus Positioning selects a corner or center/start point for the stylus to follow. Stop Positioning disables following until it is activated again. A newly selected positioning mode takes effect the next time the mark moves. Following applies only to a single selected mark.

If an obstacle would intersect the stylus travel path, select Waypoint from Add Mark and position the point so that the stylus travels through it before moving to the next mark. The diagrams on pages 10–11 show the intended routing and positioning behavior.

Marking order, speed, homing and pneumatic delays

Order and speed

Marks normally run in creation order. Use Marking → Marking Order and Move Up or Move Down to change the sequence. Auto Sort arranges marks from top to bottom and left to right.

Marking Speed is stylus travel during marking; Travel Speed is movement without marking. Use the sliders or value fields. Numeric-keypad + and − change Marking Speed by 1; holding Shift changes it by 10. The source recommends a speed difference of no more than “20” but gives no unit or percentage. Do not interpret that number as a verified physical speed limit.

Air-driven stylus timing: source reference, not electric-machine settings

Not applicable as setup guidance for the linked lithium battery electric marking mechanism. In the source's pneumatic explanation, Pen-Down Delay pauses after air is switched on so pressure can reach the stylus before travel begins. Pen-Up Delay pauses after air is switched off so residual pressure can dissipate before travel resumes. The manual describes typical values of about 2–8 milliseconds for each; these are source guidance, not universal settings for every machine.

Clamp Delay applies only where a pneumatic clamp is fitted. Homing Interval corrects accumulated positioning error; the source recommends approximately one homing cycle per 200 marking cycles under normal conditions, adjusted to cycle complexity. Rotary Workpiece Diameter and Standby Position are explained on page 13; the presence of a software field does not establish that rotary hardware is included.

Marking controls

  • Start Marking: starts immediately.
  • Mark Selected Items Only: processes only selected marks.
  • Automatic Continuous Marking: repeats at the specified interval.
  • Home: returns the stylus to the mechanical origin.

ThorX6 troubleshooting and file-saving checks

These checks summarize issues explicitly described in the supplied manual, not a general repair procedure. The two compressed-air examples below are source reference only, not a diagnosis or adjustment procedure for the linked electric machine.

  • Missing start of a stroke: in the pneumatic explanation, movement starts before air reaches the stylus. Review Pen-Down Delay (page 13).

  • Serial-number mark cannot run: check that its content ends with digits (page 8).
  • No duplicate-number warning: confirm the file has a name and has been saved (page 13).
  • Stylus does not follow moved marks: check for multiple selection or Stop Positioning (page 11).
  • Chinese text displays incorrectly: select a valid Chinese font (page 7).
  • Save is unavailable: the source says Save is enabled only after the file content has changed (page 6).

Hardware formulas and source limitations

Appendix 2, page 15, gives these formulas:

  • Step Distance = Motor Gear Diameter × π ÷ 360 × Motor Step Angle ÷ Driver Microstep Setting.
  • Rotary Factor = Motor Step Angle ÷ Reduction Ratio ÷ Driver Microstep Setting.

The source examples calculate approximately 0.0069851349 for Step Distance and 0.01125 for Rotary Factor. They are worked examples, not verified factory parameters for the linked product.
